*For daily-paid workers. Monthly-paid employees on the 261- or 313-day factor are already paid for rest days and holidays in their monthly salary. Night shift (10PM–6AM) adds 10% of the hourly rate that applies.

How to check your payslip

  1. Find your daily rate. Monthly salary × 12 ÷ 261 (Mon–Fri) or ÷ 313 (Mon–Sat). Divide by 8 for your hourly rate.
  2. Pick the kind of day. Regular holidays (like Christmas Day on December 25 and Rizal Day on December 30) pay the most; special non-working days pay less.
  3. Multiply. Daily rate × the percentage for the first 8 hours, plus hourly rate × the overtime percentage for each extra hour, plus 10% for night hours.

If your payslip comes up short, raise it with HR first, then ask DOLE through its hotline or the SEnA (Single Entry Approach) desk. Holiday and overtime pay is taxable like the rest of your salary unless you're a minimum wage earner; see your full net pay in the take-home pay calculator.

Extra pay this month? Decide where it goes before it disappears: plan the cutoff in budget until payday, build your emergency fund, or clear a card with the debt payoff planner.

Frequently asked questions

How is overtime pay computed in the Philippines?

Overtime is work beyond 8 hours a day. On an ordinary workday each overtime hour pays your hourly rate plus 25% (125%). On a rest day, special day or holiday, each overtime hour pays that day’s hourly rate plus 30%, so 169% on a rest day or special day and 260% on a regular holiday. Your hourly rate is your daily rate divided by 8.

How much is holiday pay on a regular holiday?

If you work on a regular holiday you get 200% of your daily rate for the first 8 hours, and 260% if it also falls on your rest day. If you do not work, you still get 100% of your daily rate as long as you were present or on paid leave on the workday before the holiday.

What is the pay for working on a special non-working day?

Working on a special non-working day pays 130% of your daily rate, or 150% if it falls on your rest day. If you do not work, the rule is “no work, no pay” unless your company policy or CBA says otherwise.

What is night shift differential?

Every hour worked between 10PM and 6AM earns at least 10% more than the hourly rate that applies to that hour. On an ordinary day that is 110% of your hourly rate; on a regular holiday it is 10% on top of the 200% holiday rate.

How do I get my daily rate from a monthly salary?

Multiply your monthly salary by 12 and divide by your working days a year. DOLE uses 261 days for a Monday–Friday schedule and 313 days for Monday–Saturday; both already include the paid regular holidays. For example, ₱26,100 × 12 ÷ 261 = ₱1,200 a day, or ₱150 an hour.

Who is not covered by overtime and holiday pay?

Managerial employees, officers or members of the managerial staff, field personnel whose hours cannot be determined, family members dependent on the employer, domestic workers (covered by the Kasambahay Law instead), and workers paid purely by results are excluded. Retail and service businesses regularly employing fewer than 10 workers are exempt from holiday pay, and those with fewer than 5 from night differential. Government employees follow Civil Service rules.

Educational estimate only, not legal advice. Shows statutory minimums for private-sector employees covered by the Labor Code. Excludes holiday pay rules for workers on leave or absent before a holiday, compressed workweek arrangements, and company policies that pay more. Confirm with your HR or DOLE.
